Some people say that a photograph captures the soul.

But with the girl named ann,

the photograph has a soul of it’s own.

It’s born with the photo.

A girl acting like a parcel, with a flag for wrapping paper.

She looks free.

A girl curled up in a ball, inside of a shopping cart, a sunset for back ground.

I wonder what she thinks of.

A girl with flowers around her head, looking at me like she wants to tell me something.

What  would she say.

A girl is looking out a window, hat in hand.

Why does  she seem so lonely?

A girl in a red mask, with gold sequins and scarlet feathers.

Begging the question,

What’s under the mask?

A girl looks at herself in the mirror.

Does she see the same person portrayed in the glass as we do?

A photo is worth a thousand words,

But the girl named ann,

her photos are worth a thousand questions.

The girl named ann

sits, crouches, stands, hovers,

camera in hand,

Another photo is born.

Accompanied by the soul.
